about
Mirthe Berentsen wears many hats – she is a writer, artist, curator and policy advisor. Rooted in a diverse educational background that spans literature, linguistics, art and politics, her creative and advisory pursuits are deeply entwined with concepts of language and care. Berentsen has contributed to esteemed Dutch and international (written and exhibited) publications, such as NRC Handelsblad, Vrij Nederland, De Groene Amsterdammer, De Volkskrant, Die Welt, Art Asia Pacific, Modern Painters, Art Basel, E-FLUX, and Spike magazine. Scheduled for release in 2024, Berentsens upcoming book with Dutch publisher Das Mag, delves into the politicization of family, care and the imperative role of imagination and art. After conversations and interviews with a diverse range of fascinating individuals for her book, she realized the unfortunate possibility of losing the richness of those discussions if they were confined to mere sentences in a book. So she embarked on the creation of the podcast ‘between art & family | tussen kunst & kind’, in which she engages in conversations with artists, writers, politicians, and activists, exploring the imperative for a reimagined perspective on parenting.
